How DWA works with DEN & VRS Providers
DWA regards the DEN and VRS Providers as a valuable asset to achieving successful employment outcomes for people with a disability. DWA acknowledges that we cannot achieve the results without their assistance and support.
DWA will work closely with DEN and VRS Providers by:
-
providing an internet website that lists all job vacancies with employers that have informed DWA of a job vacancy;
-
emailing and faxing job vacancies if required;
-
conducting a prescreening interview with job seeker and service to ensure that DWA can advocate to employers;.
-
providing a telephone information service that operates during normal business hours;
-
meeting regularly to ensure that DWA gains an understanding of the needs of DEN & VRS Providers regarding the recruitment of people with disabilities;
-
informing DEN & VRS Providers of the needs and wants of employers, particularly large employers regarding the recruitment of people with a disability;
-
assisting DEN & VRS Providers in meeting the needs of employers.
DWA has established steering groups in each state of Australia, consisting of DEN & VRS Providers to work collaboratively to:
-
identify barriers to employment of people with a disability and develop strategies to break down the barriers;
-
identify strategies for making employment more accessible to people with a disability;
-
raise awareness of the value of employing people with disabilities;
-
provide up to date information to employers on the range of services available and their responsibilities and liabilities associated with the employment of people with a disability.
DWA will continue to appreciate that they cannot fulfill employers' expectations alone and the support from the DEN & VRS Providers is crucial to the success of any individual tailored plan developed with employers.
