Job Description:

This exciting role offers the chance to be a part of our professional and dedicated Business Development Department who assist Council's Senior Management Group in the development and implementation of the organisation's business planning, process improvement programs and management reporting. You're highly organised, possess strong attention to detail, and are motivated by a real challenge.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Assist with the development, communication and monitoring of Council's Integrated Planning Framework which encompasses the following:
    • Corporate planning and budget timeframes
    • Corporate Strategic Objectives and Strategies
    • Performance Measures
    • Service Profiles
    • Adoption by Council of an Annual Budget
    • Accountability for assisting the gathering of information and production of the Best Value Council Report.
  • Assist the co-ordination of the annual capital and priority works and new expenditure bid process and IT and office furniture submissions.
  • Assist benchmarking projects in support of other departments across Council.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Business Analyst and Internal Auditor, seek opportunities to develop and facilitate process improvement projects across Council as part of the council's continuous improvement.
  • Assist the rollout and ongoing implementation of Council's performance management reporting system.
  • Assist the development of the Annual Report, in conjunction with Senior Business Analyst.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Quarterly Performance Report non financial measures.
  • Support Business Case Analysis for projects across the organisation as required.
  • Assist the Learning and Development department with the facilitation of departmental business planning.

  SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Tertiary Qualification in Commerce or Business commenced or completed and/or
  • Experience in a corporate planning or budgeting environment.
  • Sound analytical and problem solving skills including strategic, commercial and financial considerations.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with people from a wide range of disciplines and levels both internally and externally.
  • Effective business writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. word, excel, access, PowerPoint and project)

Volunteer State Delegate – National Council of Single Mothers & their Children (NCSMC)

Mission Statement:

The National Council of Single Mothers & their Children fights for the rights of single mothers.

Our Aim:
  • To ensure that children of single mothers have a fair start in life
  • To recognize single mothers and their children as a viable an positive family unit
  • To promote the understanding and acceptance of single mothers and their children in the community so that they may be free from prejudice
  • To work for improvements in the social, economic and legal status of single mothers an their children
Our Objectives:
  • To act as a central focus for those concerned with single mother issues and to facilitate discussion and co-operation between relevant state government and non-government agencies.
  • To conduct, promote and participate in research on matters affecting single mother families.

Volunteer delegates are required in every state & territory to assist in the research, development, and implementation of a National Project Plan, to increase the capacity and social inclusion of marginalized and indigenous single mothers. The aim is to improve the capacity for these mothers to contribute to public policy & improve the capacity of NCSMC to respond to the needs of marginalized single mothers across Australia . Ideally, Volunteer State Delegates would be working together in each state by any means possible to coordinate and implement program development. Eligibility is open to any person who has had an ex-nuptial child or pregnancy, or was themselves an ex-nuptial child.

Essential Skills:
  • Eligibility for membership to the organization NCSMC

  • Cross-cultural awareness and understanding of Indigenous belief and knowledge systems
  • Ability and proven experience in individual and class advocacy
